  • Description:  Arbel is notable for the ruins of one of the oldest synagogues in the world, that was built in the 4th century CE and destroyed in the 8th century.

    The remains were found in the northern part of Moshav Arbel. Synagogue have a typical square structure of ancient Galilee Synagogues. His columns are located on the east, west and north sides.

    The main door is located on the eastern side and was manufactured using one single stone.

    A niche for the Holy Ark was built in the southern wall (facing Jerusalem).

    The Synagogue was discovered in 1905 by H. Kohl and C. Watzinger.
